"Do I Buy Budget Or Branded Tyres?"

Our take on the mental struggle we all have whenever we buy new tyres

Close up of a tyre

Since November 2012, all new tyres must display performance indicators - similar to the energy rating label found on most modern electrical appliances.

The idea of the Tyre Information label is that you can compare tyres in relation to their fuel efficiency, braking performance in wet conditions and on the nosie produced by the tyres whilst driving

This has changed the tyre market considerably as standard fit tyres have found to provide excellent performance and value - in some cases even outperforming better known market products.

If you need any advice on tyres we are happy to help - just give us a call on 01744 814325

Each tyre is rated on three things

Sample Tyre Label

  • Fuel Efficiency
A measure of the tyres rolling resistance, which has an impact on your vehicle's fuel efficiency. This is rated from A (highest rating) to G (lowest rating)
  • Wet Grip
A measure of the tyres braking ability in wet conditions. Wet grip is rated from A (highest rating) to F (lowest rating)
  • Noise
A measure of the external noise produced by the tyre on the road, in decibels. The black sound waves indicate the noise class of the tyre - from 1 (quiet) to 3 (loud)
