WHAT IS ADAS?
(ADAS) Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are a range of safety systems designed to enhance driver safety as well comfort by assisting with various tasks. These systems use a combination of sensors, cameras, and radars to monitor the vehicle's surroundings and alert drivers to potential hazards or even intervene to prevent accidents. ADAS carries out checks on a number of safety features on the vehicle including but not limited to; Automatic braking / Collision avoidance, Lane departure assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic parking
ADAS Calibration is required after wheel alignment, suspension repairs, windscreen replacement or body repairs (bumpers removed or replaced. ADAS is currently being looked at by the DVSA to integrate it into the MOT Test due to its importance relating to road safety.
ADAS & WHEEL ALIGNMENT
A Wheel Alignment check is required before ADAS calibration to ensure accuracy and safety. The vehicle's ADAS sensors are highly sensitive to the car's positioning, and a misaligned vehicle will provide inaccurate readings to these systems, potentially causing faults or system failures. Virtually all manufacturers (OEMs) mandate that wheel alignment must be checked and performed if it is required before ADAS calibration to guarantee the system operates correctly.

WHEN IS ADAS CALIBRATION REQUIRED
ADAS calibration is required after a vehicle encounters any change that could affect the alignment or functionality of the ADAS sensors, these include; windscreen replacement, accident repairs (bumpers removed or replaced), wheel alignment adjustments or when replacement suspension works carried out.
It's also recommended to have ADAS systems calibrated at regular intervals to ensure optimal performance and safety, as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

STATIC ADAS CALIBRATION
Static ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration involves the re calibration of the sensors while the vehicle is stationary, In our controlled and sterile workshop environment. This method requires Tyre Hubs specialist state of the ADAS equipment that precisely targets the vehicles sensors to align and adjust to the correct manufacturers specifications to ensure accurate and safe performance.
DYNAMIC ADAS CALIBRATION
Dynamic ADAS calibration requires the vehicle to driven at specific speeds and on certain roads to allow the sensors to gather real-world data and re-calibrate. This type of calibration is required for radar-based systems like Adaptive Cruise Control and may be needed in addition to or instead of static calibration after certain maintenance or repairs, such as a new windscreen.
HOW LONG DOES ADAS CALIBRATION TAKE
ADAS calibration can take anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours, generally ranging from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the type of calibration (static, dynamic, or combined), the vehicle's make and model, and the complexity of its ADAS systems. Static calibrations, performed in a workshop, may take longer than dynamic ones, which involve a road test period.
We would advise putting aside 3 hours for your ADAS calibration (plus any waiting times to get your vehicle into the workshop) with ourselves and if the process is completed in a shorter time we will get in touch to confirm it is ready to collect.
On occasions it can be slightly longer depending on the weather conditions, complexity of the ADAS system fitted to the vehicle and other factors. You do not need to pre book as we work on demand for you, however as mentioned above you can experience waiting times to get in to the workshop depending on the volume of customers on site when you arrive.
WHAT HAPPENS IF ADAS IS NOT CALIBRATED
t is vital to make sure your ADAS system is calibrated correctly, If ADAS is not calibrated, safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control will not work correctly, potentially increasing the risk of serious accidents due to false alarms or missed warnings. This in turn can also result in other issues including invalidating your car insurance and the vehicles warranty and MOT Test issues.
